WOMEN’S CO-OPERATIVEs

Mahila Sangha co-operative groups enable local underprivileged women, widows, and deserted mothers to support each other, providing friendship across social and religious boundaries. Each group of 20 women meets monthly and together, with their own appointed leader, to manage group savings and loans. Their monthly contributions are deposited in the local bank, and can be used for vital needs like school fees and medical insurance. The women also receive training on topics like health, parenting and leadership.

WOMEN’S TAILORING CENTRE

Our Tailoring Centre provides training classes for young mothers and girls who have left education. The centre aims to provide a way for these women to earn an income and support themselves and their families. At the end of their year of training, many course graduates go on to start their own small businesses.

WOMEN’S TRAINING COURSES

We’re helping women to gain the vital skills they need to help lift their families out of poverty. Alongside our co-operative groups and tailoring centre, we’re running training courses on computer use and spoken English.

PARENTAL SUPPORT

Once a month, parents of children enrolled in our Benjamin Nursery school come to ACCESS’ centre for an update on their child’s progress and to attend awareness raising sessions. These may be training sessions on essential subjects like child welfare, conflict management, nutrition, budgeting and self-employment.

“Before, we were scared to step out of the house. Now we have courage. We take care of each other.”
