Suganthi’s Story

Suganthi can barely remember a time before ACCESS was in her life, after enrolling in the nursery school when she was just five years old. It was a move that would change the course of her life.

When Suganthi was just twelve years old her mother died, leaving behind five daughters. Her father, upset that he had only daughters and no sons, deserted the family. Suganthi’s oldest sister took on the mantle of raising her siblings.

ACCESS not only provided Suganthi’s school fees and access to medical care and health check ups, but became a vital lifeline,

“When I felt sad, I always came here. The teachers spoke to me like friends.

I wouldn’t have studied if I didn’t have support from ACCESS. I didn’t have anyone. I would have lost hope. I didn’t think anyone was there for me. But then ACCESS called.”

Today Suganthi is undertaking an engineering degree and has dreams of supporting others,

“I want to sponsor others and give them a chance to study. And I want to take care of my sisters.”
